Foreign Innovators Flock to China’s Digital Economy

China’s appeal extends to international innovators. By December 2023, the country hosted active patents from 93 countries and regions, with 61.8% in digital product manufacturing. China’s core digital economy sectors received a total of 406,000 invention patents in 2023, making up 45% of all invention patents issued nationwide. Over the past five years, these sectors have experienced an average annual growth rate of 21%.

Chinese Intellectual Property Protection Builds Foreign Confidence

Foreign investments in China have increased, supported by robust intellectual property protection measures. By the end of June, there were 919,000 valid foreign invention patents and 2.13 million registered trademarks, marking year-on-year increases of 3.9% and 3.8%, respectively. The CIPA’s initiatives, including frequent communication with foreign enterprises, aim to enhance security and attract more investments.

Generative AI Adoption in China

A recent survey by SAS and Coleman Parkes Research found that 83% of Chinese top managers in various sectors use generative AI, leading globally. In comparison, only 65% of respondents in the United States reported adopting generative AI, highlighting China’s leadership in this innovative field.
