A major global IT outage caused by an update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike is expected to be resolved by Friday night U.S. Eastern Time, according to bettors on Polymarket. The outage, which has impacted banks, airlines, emergency services, and businesses worldwide, resulted from a defect in a content update for Windows hosts.

Bettors on Polymarket believe there is an 89% chance that the issue will be resolved by Friday night, and a 70% chance it will be fixed by Friday noon. They are also unconvinced that the outage was caused by a hack, giving it only a 9% chance.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued ground-stop orders for most major airlines due to the outage. CrowdStrike’s stock has fallen over 10% in pre-market trading on the NASDAQ as a result of the incident.

In an update posted at 5:45 AM U.S. time, CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz stated that the issue had been identified, isolated, and a fix was being rolled out. Despite the outage, Bitcoin has remained relatively unaffected, trading above $63,700, down only 1.7%, according to CoinDesk Indices data.
