While non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have solidified their position within the crypto space, Web3 professionals believe several barriers prevent broader asset class adoption. Key challenges include a lack of new narratives, reputation issues within the broader Web3 space, and a complicated user experience.

Dave Catudal, co-founder of the social monetization platform Lyvely, points out that the space needs new narratives and more innovation. He explains that the main issue with reluctant adopters is the lack of innovation and fresh narratives within the NFT space. Dr. Alun Evans, co-founder of the Polkadot parachain LAOS Network, suggests reclaiming the term NFT, which is currently associated mostly with digital collectibles. There are many more use cases for NFTs, from tradable items in games and virtual worlds to the tokenization of real-world assets, ticketing, and certification.
